What’s new in Meribel this winter

One of the great things about Meribel is that there is a constant programme of improvements so every year the resort gets better and better. And this winter is no exception, so here is a little taster of new things for you to enjoy……

The blue Roc de Fer piste, which will host the Finals of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in March, has been redesigned ready for the event and now has snow cannons right up to the summit ensuring excellent snow coverage. Visitors to the resort will be able to ski the world cup course and test themselves against the best in the world.

The Loze chairlift which has always been an excellent route over to Courchevel, has been updated and is now a high speed detachable chair & has been renamed the Loze Express. This will now whisk you to the top of the Loze in just 6 minutes ! And is an excellent alternative to the busier Chaudanne route.

There is now an easier route into Mottaret centre avoiding the steep bottom part of the blue Matre piste – follow signs to the “Easy Route” via Le Hameau – perfect for the busy, icy days !

For children and beginners the “Ski Cool” area at the Altiport has been enlarged giving more space for beginner to practice in peace and the popular Inuit piste through the Altiport forest has also been expanded. There is also a new sledging zone with padded barriers and restricted access at the Altiport with a sheltered picnic and seating area for families to enjoy some non-ski time.

For walkers and snow-shoe enthusiasts there is a new winter walking path at le Plan des Mains at the foot of Mont Vallon which is accessible via Plattieres and Plan des Mains lifts.

All we need now is the snow and the winter to arrive ……
