in-resortWe can arrange in-chalet massage and beauty treatments so that you feel utterly pampered and truly relaxed. We can book restaurants for lunch or dinner to ensure that you can make the most of your ski time knowing your table is reserved and waiting for you.

We can help you celebrate a special occasion – whether it’s baking a birthday cake, or cooking a particular favourite dish, buying flowers or arranging a treat. Just let us know what you need and we’ll sort it for you (and we’re very good at keeping secrets!) In summary, we love to help and we want you to have the best holiday because we care.

We can arrange baby-sitting or nanny care as well as organising push chairs, cots, high chairs and other equipment to help you travel lighter. We can provide high tea or early supper for children and are happy to prepare favourite meals as we understand that sometimes it can be more difficult travelling with children.

The Food

Chalet Food There is nothing like a day in the fresh mountain air on the slopes to whet your appetite. We pride ourselves on the high standard of our food and our service.  Avery Crest Chalets offer a varied menu including some delicious favourites alongside some more traditional French cuisine to really give you that local flavour!  We are passionate about using the best, freshest and wherever possible local ingredients to ensure that whatever we cook for you, it will taste delicious. We discuss menus with you to ensure that we are providing the perfect meals for your group and we will offer a selection of wines to complement the dishes chosen.

Start your day in our luxury chalets with a delicious cooked breakfast accompanied by a selection of bread, fruit, yoghurt and cereals. Come back to the chalet after a great day’s skiing to afternoon tea with homemade cake. Enjoy chilled champagne and canapés as a prelude to the main event – a spectacular dinner served with a choice of fine wines, especially chosen by our Sommelier. Then sit back in the comfortable sofas to enjoy coffee, chocolates and the mesmerising atmosphere of the open fire.

Our experienced, qualified chefs are employed because of their passion for food and for their high standards of customer care. We take pride in our fine dining standard cuisine but are equally happy to prepare children’s high teas or to  design lighter menus according to your requirements. But whatever dishes we cook for you, they will be homemade and created using fresh and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

We are more than happy to cater for any specific dietary requirements – please notify us upon booking or when we call to discuss menus prior to your arrival. Also do let us know if you are celebrating any particular occasion during your stay as we would be delighted to bake a birthday cake or create the perfect anniversary dinner for you to enjoy.

We can also recommend and book restaurants for you for lunch to ensure that you can relax and enjoy your skiing knowing that a table is ready and waiting for you. As many of the popular mountain restaurants do get booked in advance, we recommend making reservations. We can of course make suggestions and reservations for your night out for dinner (chalet staff get one night off per week).

The Wine

ChampagneWe pride ourselves on the quality of our wines and on the choice we provide.  At the start of the season our chefs and our Sommelier spend time to source a selection of wines that will complement our menus and that will delight our guests.

We begin the evening by serving perfectly chilled champagne with a selection of canapés before moving on to the main event – a sumptuous four course dinner with a selection of wines to match each course.

The chalets have a ‘Guest Fridge’ which is always stocked with soft drinks, beer, wine and treats so that you can help yourself whenever you want to. A selection of teas and coffees is also always available.

We serve Laurent Perrier Champagne.

White Wines

Terres Secretes Croix de Montceau St Veran 2010 This wine comes from vines planted in a small vineyard that is known as the ‘Croix de Montceau’. It is luscious, opulent stuff, with rich, dense flavours overlapping on the palate.

Vignerons de Buxy ‘Tete de Cuvee’ Montagny 1er Cru 2007 A beautifully rounded oaked Chardonnay from premier cru vines in the Montagny appellation.

Domaine Fouassier ‘la Garenne’ Sancerre 2010 (Organic/Biodynamic) Domaine Fouassier is a biodynamically-run estate in the classic Loire Valley appellation of Sancerre. Made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine has all the hallmark freshness and lemony fruit that you would expect from the area.

Domaine Cailbourdin ‘Cuvee de Boisfleury’ Pouilly-Fume 2010 Fruity citrus (grapefruit), passion fruit, as well as floral (rose petals and white flowers) aromas.

Domaine Moreau Naudet Chablis 2009 (Organic) This 300-year old domain is fast becoming one of the most respected Chablis producers since Stéphane Moreau took it over in 1991.

Rene Mure Gewurztraminer 2008 This rich, spicy wine from the Alsace region in Eastern France is off-dry, with aromas of lychee and rose. Excellent as an aperitif, but best of all as an accompaniment to exotic food, for example a lamb curry or even with desserts.

Red Wines

Vignerons de Buxy Mercurey 2009 This 2009 wine is a great example of what a good Mercurey is about with lovely red ruby colour, a complex nose of cherries, black fruits and light vanilla and spices and a soft and intense palate.

Chateau Patache d’Aux Medoc 2007 This is a classic Bordeaux wine, with blackcurrant fruit being complemented by the minty flavours typical of Cabernet Sauvignon and a restrained toastiness from the oak. The 2005 was elected ‘Wine of the Year’ by Decanter Magazine.

Domanie Combier ‘Cuvee Laurent’ Crozes-Hermitage 2010 (Organic) The Cuvée Laurent is all about purity of fruit, complemented by a prominent violet flavour and the typical pepperiness of the Syrah grape.

Domaine de Mourchon Cotes du Rhone Villages Seguret ‘Grande Reserve’ 2007 Rich, dark, full-bodied yet elegant, this wine is what the Rhone Valley is all about. Coming from the superlative 2007 vintage, it is now reaching its peak.

Château Haut Cardinal – Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2005 (Organic) A classic, pure Merlot St Emilion Grand Cru from the mythic 2005 vintage. A classic wine from classic appellation.
