Méribel and the Three Valleys have a fantastic modern lift system which benefits from regular investment. The area has a mix of chair, gondola and drag lifts – you may be relieved to know that there are no T-bar lifts in the Three Valleys!
In winter there are a number of different ski passes on offer, so you can tailor your purchase to the ability and preferences of your group. The cost of your lift pass depends not only on which one you choose, but also on your age.
Proof of age is needed for free* passes (children under 5 years & adults over 75 years) and for passes with a reduced price (child aged 5-13 & adults aged 65-74). There is also a Family Pass which is available for 2 adults and a minimum of 2 children under 18 years which can offer considerable saving on the individual pass price (proof of age & relationship is required).
All passes are now hands-free and don’t require photos (except for reduced price passes but the lift pass office can scan passport photos). Passes can now stay in your pocket and you no longer need to show it to the lift attendant, which makes the lift entry much faster and more convenient.
You have several lift pass options for your ski holiday in Meribel – you can buy a Three Valleys Lift Pass which gives you access to the entire Three Valleys tenure which includes Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thoren or you can buy a Meribel Valley or Meribel Alpina lift pass which allows you to access lifts in just the Meribel valley area.
You can also add “Carte Neige” insurance to your lift pass which will cover you for rescue and evacuation on or off piste if you have an accident and will work in conjunction with your travel insurance policy to cover medical, hospital and repatriation costs. In 2012 it was an additional 2.80€ per person per day on the cost of the lift pass and we do recommend that you invest in this.
We can organise the purchase of your ski pass in advance so that it is waiting in the chalet for you on arrival allowing you to make the most of your first day’s skiing. Where you are eligible for a reduced price or free* pass, we will ask you to send a scan of relevant passport pages to allow us to purchase for you in advance.
** Free passes have a charge of 3 euros for the card. ** For non-skiers pedestrian passes are also available.
For winter 2011-12 the upper stage of the Saulire gondola from Méribel was replaced by a faster eight-seater, meeting the cable car up from Courchevel (easing pedestrian access to the other resort). The lower stage will be replaced for 2012/13 which will mean that you can get from the Chaudanne to the top of Saulire in 12 minutes – half the time of the old lift!
A new green run links the mid-station to the Blanchot piste to create a gentle run all the way to the resort.
