Ski schools have come a long way from the ‘bend ze kneez’ approach you may have experienced in the past. Méribel has a wealth of ski schools and some of the best instructors that you will find anywhere in the world. Whatever your level of skiing, it is certainly worth looking at taking lessons or taking a guide to ensure that you get the most out of your ski holiday in Méribel.
There are basically two options with regards to lessons – you can choose to book a place in group lessons or opt to take a private instructor. Both have their advantages and the choice depends on the individual.
Group lessons can be the best options for beginners and for children as they provide a social learning environment and they are cost effective. However they are at set times and for set durations. Most group lessons start from the Chaudanne lift area in the main resort, which is easily accessed from both ski chalets either by short Avery Crest minibus transfer or by the free resort bus service operating in the resort.
The other option is to book a private instructor who can adapt the lesson exactly to your needs – if there are a group of a similar level, this tailor-made solution can also work out more cost efficient. Instructors can be booked for half or full days and they will usually meet at the chalet or an agreed convenient spot. We have a list of great instructors that we work with so please do discuss your requirements with us prior to your arrival.
If you have young children wanting to learn, there are a number of great options including the Club Piou Piou which caters specifically for children aged 3 – 5 in a specially designed play park allowing the children to get used to the equipment and sliding on skis in a safe and fun environment. There are also a number of options for older children so do let us know what you’d like to do and we can help you plan and book the best option for your ski holiday in Meribel.
For advanced skiers or for those wanting to conquer the fantastic off-piste terrain of the Three Valleys, we recommend taking a guide who can help you find the best snow and show you hidden routes and runs that you would not be able to find alone. Instructors can be booked for half or full days.
So whether you want to learn to ski or snowboard, master your carving or moguls or perfect skiing off-piste powder we will be able to match the ski school or instructor that is right for you. Please let us know what you want to achieve and any special requirements and we will be able to come back with a tailor made suggestion for you.
Please note that we would always recommend booking ahead particularly if you are travelling in peak or school holiday weeks.Guide: Ski Hire Meribel
